Hexavalent chromium is used in electroplating, welding, and painting. Chromium is added to alloy steel to increase durability, hardness, and corrosion resistance. Hexavalent chromium is created, resulting in an occupational health risk. Materials containing hexavalent chromium include various paint and primer pigments, graphic art supplies, fungicides, corrosion inhibitors, and wood preservatives. Studies show that hexavalent chromium can cause cancer and target the respiratory system, kidneys, liver, skin, and eyes.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the California Regional Water Quality Control Boards have required hundreds of businesses in Southern California that use, have used, or may have used hexavalent chromium in their operations to provide further information about their potential impact to the environment.
Environmental Assessment and Remediation Services: Hexavalent Chromium
For 25 years, The Reynolds Group has taken on challenging remediation projects involving recalcitrant chemicals like hexavalent chromium. Our hexavalent chromium remediation strategies and cost estimation evaluation experience add value to both sides of real estate transactions. We have a long history of expertise in assessing contamination using site specific and technology advanced methods for efficiency and accuracy. TRG has helped redevelop brownfields affected by hexavalent chromium. We also can manage environmental risks from different vantage points, such as cost, liability, and Human Health Risk (HHR). HHR Assessments compare existing contaminant levels to existing HHR standards to formulate mitigation measures, where appropriate.
TRG is a California licensed General and HazMat Contractor that performs “hard dollar” remediation, vapor intrusion mitigation, remediation system installations, and operations and maintenance (O&M). We also provide litigation support and strategic advice because they are pertinent for the environmental standard-of-care and cost-related litigation.
Since 1989, TRG has worked with property owners, real estate developers, legal counsel, risk managers, and regulatory agencies to evaluate and overcome environmental challenges associated with real properties. As professional consultants and environmental contractors, TRG applies practical, cost-effective methods to assess and resolve problems. We effectively navigate clients through regulations to create pathways for real properties to realize their full financial and functional value.
